Staff commission

A commission rule belongs to one person. A visit accrues it. Paying salary, commission, bonus, or overtime is a later cash payout, and only when live payout is on for that clinic.

What a commission rule is

You write the rule on the employee, not on a shared percentage that every chair inherits. The rule can point at a package, so a session sold inside a package is not paid from a rule that was written for a single service. If two rules are equally specific, BOC refuses to save the clash. It does not pick one for you. A delivered visit accrues against the rule that fits. Clocking in on the phone does not pay anyone. Attendance and pay are different ledgers. When the clinic has live payout turned on, a person who has permission can pay salary, commission, bonus, or overtime. That payment is one payout and one cash exit. Recording the expense does not start a second payout. A saved clinic choice wins over the default. If live payout is off, the rule and the accrual can still sit on the person, and the cash does not leave.

The dashboard can show staff hours, visits, and income. That report is not the payout. The payout is the HR step that spends the balance, or the cashier step when the same permission pays from there. Two people looking at a percentage on paper can both be sincere and still disagree with the envelope. Here the rule, the visit that accrued it, and the payout that spent it are the same book.

What makes it different

A commission that lives only in a month-end spreadsheet has no visit under it. BOC accrues from the visit that was delivered, against one person’s rule. A package session uses a package rule when you wrote one. A clash of two equally specific rules is rejected instead of paid twice. The cash leaves once.

From the visit to the envelope

In the morning the rule is already on the person. During the day, staff book and deliver visits. Each delivered visit accrues. A discount that is still pending is not the price of that visit, so the accrual is not taken from a price the cashier has not accepted. At the end of the period, someone with permission opens the payout. If live payout is on, they pay salary, commission, bonus, or overtime as one payout. The cash exit is that payout. It is not a second button that pays the same balance again. If the clinic has not turned live payout on, they can still read the rules and the accrued amounts, and they do not send the cash. Clock-in, lateness, and overtime minutes are the attendance ledger. They feed overtime when that payout kind is used. They do not themselves hand over wages. The activity around the change can be read later by someone who is allowed to see who edited the rule.

How it works in BOC

  1. Write the rule on the person. One employee. A package rule stays on that package.
  2. Refuse a tie. Two equally specific rules are not saved.
  3. Accrue from the visit. A delivered visit accrues. A phone punch does not pay.
  4. Turn on live payout. A saved clinic choice wins. If it is off, cash does not leave.
  5. Pay once. Salary, commission, bonus, or overtime. One payout, one cash exit.

Questions

Does clocking in pay the wage?

No. The phone punch is attendance. Pay is a later payout.

Can two rules both match?

If they are equally specific, BOC refuses the clash instead of choosing.

What can be paid?

Salary, commission, bonus, or overtime, as one payout.

When does the cash leave?

When live payout is on and someone with permission pays. One payout, one cash exit.

Does a pending discount change the accrual?

No. The reduced price is used only after the discount is approved.

Is the staff report the same as the payout?

No. The dashboard can show hours, visits, and income. The payout is the step that spends the balance.
